A La Vez Historia De Como Escribi Esta Historia

Eladio De Valdenebro

Review: A girl and her brother rescue a baby condor after poachers kill its parents. Rosalba gets help from Cesar, the son of a rich doctor who owns a hacienda in the southern part of Colombia near a volcano in the Andes. She nurses the condor until it can return to the wild but is forced to intervene again when the poachers return and try to kill it. Great detail is given to descriptions of the region and the life and habitats of these great birds. The author inserts notes throughout the novel that explain how he did his research and how he got his ideas for this story. This technique may confuse young readers but may interest children who like to read factual information. The story's vocabulary and the author's use of colloquialisms may be difficult for students who are not native Spanish speakers.

At last I read the book. In a way this was two books inside the same covers. One was about this author's way of writing a book and the other told about big birds, condors, and how Toño and Rosalba saved an orphan condor. I would have like more if the two parts had been different books.
This book is flying far away to Cuba with Kikkoman.
Happy reading!

This book counts for Colombia in my A Book From Every Country Challenge.

This is my #17 "REDUCE MOUNT TBR 2009" Challenge arranged by DovreiLibri.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

After an excellent dinner at the paladar La Guardia I released this book. I put it in the bookshelf in the corner of the room to the left from the entrance. Unfortunately the internet access for Cubans is very restricted so we will probably not se any entry from the finder. But we can be sure it will bring joy to someone in a country where books are a luxury.
