Just bought this and "Payment In Blood" after reading a review of a film made from one of this author's books. First in the Inspector Lynley/D.S. Havers series.

I mostly enjoyed this, I thought the ending was a little forced, and the overwhelming pitifulness of the Detective Sergeant Havers was annoying after awhile, nobody is that awful! But I liked how she plotted the story and developed the characters, I'll read more by her.
