"STEP INTO ANOTHER TIME-
AND UNFORGETTABLE TERROR.
THE YEAR IS 1896
THE CITY IS NEW YORK
THE HUNT IS ON FOR A BAFFING NEW KIND OF CRIMINAL...
A SERIAL KILLER."

Journal Entry 2 by LadyGothic from Warner Robins, Georgia USA on Saturday, October 29, 2005

"Prior to the twentieth century, persons suffering from mental illness were thought to be "alienated" not from the rest of society but from their own true natures. Those experts who studies mental pathologies were therefore known as alienists."

Is Dr Kriezler trying to stop a mad man from another brutal slaying of abused young boys or reaching out and facing his past of being an abused child at the hand of an evil mad father? Is the serial killer really insane? Who is the man who is luring and butchering young male prostitutes?

Moore is a newspaper reporter and friend of Kriezler, who tells the story and sleuths the murderer along with his friend Sara and Kriezler and his entourage...sharing little news with the local police and setting up their own investigation camp, going where the police can not, they put their lives in danger every step of the way.

A well written group of characters and a highly suprising compex plot. I love the authors air of writing! This was my 1st experience with this author and I'll avidly search for more :)

I picked it up from a collection of trashy novels at work (DaimlerChrysler Assembly Plant) and was pleasantly suprised to see it was a treasure to be sure.
