Eloise Manfred made her first appearance in Red Dress Ink's very first title, See Jane Date (2001), and now she is the central character in Senate's third outing. A designer at Wow Weddings magazine, Eloise is not only going to marry sweet Noah Benjamin but is also having her wedding paid for by Wow Weddings. Eloise is their "Modern Bride," and editorial assistant Philippa Wills is the "Classic Bride" for a special feature, but Eloise quickly realizes that every detail is controlled by her conniving boss Astrid. That includes the bridesmaids' dresses (a hideous rubbery material) and Eloise's own gown (yellow, with feathers!).Astrid also wants Eloise's estranged brother, Emmett, in attendance for photo shoots as well as the father who abandoned them when Eloise was five. Completely fed up, Eloise begins to question how much she wants to get married in the first place. Although the solution to the wedding problem is obvious early on, some unexpected twists in the story distinguish Senate's novel from the pack of bride-to-be books.

The book arrived today, thank you so much CdnBlueRose! I'll have to read See Jane Date before reading this one though.
I loved Whose Wedding Is It Anyway?! Finally, chick lit with a down to earth heroine, who isn't the least bit annoying and who has nice friends too. The plot according to the back cover is about weddings, but there's another story in this book, about the importance of family and coming to terms with abandonment. Even though the book is very easy to read, I didn't think the issues were dealt with too superficially (although I'm not sure if someone with personal experience might agree with me on this or not). I devoured the book in two days, and now I need to find more Melissa Senate to read. :)

Better than average chick lit, and like CandyDarling said, finally we have a heroine who isn't annoying! I loved all the weddings and nice characters, and would love to read more about Eloise, Jane, and other girl friends.

It took me a while (the first 50 pages, at least) to really understand and remember that the "I" in this book was Eloise, not Jane... I enjoyed this book more than See Jane Date.

Arrived in Helsinki, thanks! I have a few books I must read before this one, but I'll try to be as fast as possible.
I enjoyed this book tremendously, on par with See Jane Date, although it took me a while too for it to sink in that the "I" in this book was Eloise, not Jane :) I really warmed to the characters and found the storylines touching, but not too soppy. I'd love to read more Melissa Senate too.

This one I haven't even journaled as received. So sorry for that. I'm just not that interested in trying this, even if CandyDarling did tell me that this was better than the first book See Jane Date. I don't have much time to read at the moment, so I will concentrate on the books I REALLY want to read and not hog the ones someone else wants to read.

I read this book right after See Jane Date and liked this one too, still I thought the first one was slightly better. It was really nice to continue with the characters I got to know in the first novel for a while longer. Since I'm planning my own wedding at the moment, I seem to be drawn to books about weddings. After reading this, I'm really glad we're doing the planning for the big day. :)

This book did stay with me a bit longer than I expected. It was a good read and actually I liked it better than See Jane Date. Characters were more mature in this book and I actually read this whole book in the train on my way to Helsinki today.

Oh, the forgotten ring... I honestly didn't remember this bookring so imagine my surprise as lottuli gave me these two books today. However, they seem interesting (and thin enough!) so I'm hoping to enjoy as much as the other readers have. :)

Doing some Spring cleaning and I think it's time to let go of huge amount of books that have been in my bookshelf for years. Books, that I have picked up many times but yet put them back. Books, that have moved houses quite many times. Books, that represent a genre I've grown out of past years.
