Received this today as an RABCK from chancer1967. I look forward to reading it. Thanks! :)
This was a pretty thick book, 628 pages long, but it went by fairly quickly nonetheless and I greatly enjoyed it. While reading, I found myself trying to place which God or Goddess was represented by each character that Shadow met on his travels with Wednesday. (I was pretty good with all the Egyptian ones and Kali; the exact form of some of the Norse ones escaped me, though the names were familiar.)
I'm looking forward to reading Anansi Boys now, which is sort of a follow-up to this book.

IS NOTHING SACRED?
Days before his release from prison, Shadow's wife, Laura, dies in a mysterious car crash. Numbly, he makes his way back home. On the plane, he encounters the enigmatic Mr. Wednesday, who claims to be a refugee from a distant war, a former god and the king of America.
Together they embark on a profoundly strange journey across the heart of the USA, whilst all around them a storm of preternatural and epic proportions threatens to break.
Scary, gripping and deeply unsettling, AMERICAN GODS takes a long, hard look into the soul of America. You'll be surprised by what—and who—it finds there...

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
RELEASE NOTES:
Gave this one to my friend Holly, a fellow Pagan, who I can't believe has never read this one. Classic Pagan read with strong influences/representations from the Norse and Egyptian pantheons, and even some Hindu with Kali Ma to boot! (Though she didn't play as major a role as some of the others.)
Anyhoo, I know she probably won't leave a journal entry here even though I told her to read the review I wrote about this book up here instead of asking me about it while I was getting buzzed and all. *grin* So though I released this to her, and will give her first dibs on what she wants to do with it after, I'm going to mark it as reserved instead of traveling so it doesn't appear to be lost anywhere since I know where it's at. :)
Happy Holidays to all my fellow readers! o<;)>>

Back home with me. I plan to offer this book up on one of the relays or PBS.
