2005 Book #3: Guardians of the West by David Eddings
I've read Eddings previous series Belgariad. I decided to follow the main characters into this series, Mallorean. I got this book and book 2 from a Geocaching cache for books sometime in summer 2004. I don't have the rest of the books of the series and considered badgering Flyinfox to borrow his beloved copies. There was also a new geocacher I knew had copies and he offered to lend them to me, but I haven't heard from him about it.

After having read this book, I wasn't as excited about the series as I had been. The story seemed to move very slowly and the writing seemed a little uneven. The book would be meandering along and then suddenly there'd be a gem such as the impromptu wedding of a just-widowed woman who's been pining for another man, two characters from the Belgariad.

In all the book seemed too stretched out and reminiscent of the Belgariad storyline.

Caught in Fort Worth. Rescued from the groaning book table, where it was chained to another book by the same author. My tote bag had a note saying that it had been inspected by the TSA when I landed in San Francisco - heaven knows what they thought of my taste in books!
