subtitle: An Inner Challenge for Feminine Spirit (not a typo!)

sub sub title: Breaking Through Fear and Destructive Patterns to a Balanced and Creative Life

The book works with iconographic visions of what women have been, are and can be: drawing names from mythology, fairy tales and folklore.

yeah. this is one of those books that when the student is ready, the teacher can actually make a huge difference. the the success depends on the reader's readiness, temperment and affinity for the writer's style and tone of voice.

I didn't finish it - years ago when i first got it -partly because i came to it late - that is to say lots of hard-core feminist texts made this feel a little light.
And that's my unfair reaction to a lot of books that are primarily anecdotal entries shaped around a theme. Leonard draws on her experience as a workshop leader, so many of the stories are from clients/attendees

(Lest you think i am truly contemptuous of such stuff, I am not. But my experience years later with The Artist's Way illustrates my point and my personality: I did the whole book, fighting and arguing with the author all the way through about her smug "it's really God!" analysis of every thing that works.)

I check out the quotes an author puts at the front of a chapter even before i check the index and bibliography, & this book stands up well.
