I certainly did have time to read it and I loved it. I always do enjoy books set in other countries and this gave a superb view of life in China during that period. The plot itself had a somewhat awful inevitablitiy when you started to see things coming full circle, but I gather there are two more books following on so perhaps it is not the complete circle it seems.
