Although I have categorised this as lit & fiction, it could also go into the philosphy category. A brilliant work by an author that compels you to think. Whilst her philosphy is equally loved and loathed by many the world over, I tend to accept what she espouses with a few grains of salt. Her characters are strong and willful. They are selfish which if you end up a believer of her philosphy u will come to realise is not necessarily a bad thing. My first 5 attempts at reading this book failed. I could not get through the first 50 pages. I then read her earlier novel The Fountainhead, thoroughly enjoyed it and was able to then immerse myself into the pages of Atlas Shrugged. Her philosphy is not for all. Many times I find myself apalled at it and other times I am in awe of it.
