I recently finished up the unabridged audiobook for this one and couldn't resist picking up the hardcover for a wild release or bookring when I saw it on sale at my local library. This book was a huge improvement over books 8 & 9 just don't ask me how I came to that conclusion ;) Might it be I'm just in a better mood? Highly unlikely but I can't come up with anything else. Stephanie Plum is still up to her old tricks. She's living with Joe Morelli (for at least part of the book), lusting after Ranger, hanging with Lula (who never fails to make me laugh ~ especially when C.J. Critt is voicing her character) and getting into some major trouble quite by accident -- this time with a local gang who puts a hit on her head. This book made me smile quite often and for that it gets a recommendation ;)

See Mrs. Giggles review who, uh, didn't quite care for it.

There are tons of requests for this book over at cliff's wishlist so I've decided to create a ring for this so it can travel a bit before I wild release it. PM if you're interested.

This book has now officially become a Bookring!

What is a bookring and how do I get in on it? (thanks go to PHC for her detailed instructions which helped me greatly in understanding the process)

A bookring begins when a bookcrosser decides to send a book on a controlled journey. A list of interested readers is set up and the book passes from one reader who reads it and then sends it along to the person next in line. The final person on the list will set the book "free" or pass it along to other interested readers. A reader can join a bookray at any time unless I decide to close it (if that happens I will make a note that the ray has closed). Just private message (PM) me and let me know where you are located (city, state & country) and if you are able to ship internationally. Also let me know if you would like to be placed lower down on the list.

What should I do when I receive the book? Log on to bookcrossing and type up a journal entry so I know it reached you okay. Then private message (PM) the next person in line to get their mailing address so there will be no waiting once you finish the book, if they do not respond within 10 days PM the next reader in line (and me too so I know they are no longer interested). Please read the book within 30 days and when complete add another journal entry with your thoughts about the book. Tell me the truth! Was it the best thing you ever read or a complete and utter waste of time? I love to talk books, the good, the bad and even the ugly (ugly can sometimes be lots of fun to dissect), you can write one sentence or a hundred. When you finish send the book along to the next reader in line. Please mail the book via Media Mail to save on postage in the US or via the slow boat to China if sending overseas.

What if I'm the last in line? Journal upon arrival, listen, journal again with your thoughts & then return home to me, LaurieS.

Help! I'm too swamped with book commitments and it is almost my turn! If you find yourself in this situation PM me and I will bump you down a few notches on the list (if possible). Believe me, I understand!

Thanks for participating and for reading this tome if you have made it this far.

Please PM me if would like to be added to the list or have any questions about the book or the bookring!

The List:
LadyShaye Wisconsin US only
mysteryfan03 US will ship internationally

This book did start out a little strange, but quickly turned into another great Plum adventure. And oh, my Ranger..... (finished just in time for the Ranger vs Morelli thread on the Book Talk forum!)
Thanks so much for sharing this great book! And now I hear that Elven will be out soon! I will pass this on soon to Finland!

I quite enjoyed this one but but... I fell for Morelli already in book one so it does not look good right now :-) Maybe that is why I was a bit disappointed in Stephanie - she had a good cause but still... Thanks for sharing this one!

Have already pm'd dodau for her address.

Journal Entry 12 by dodau from Ellesmere Port, Cheshire United Kingdom on Friday, July 22, 2005
I have to say that although I am a bit Stephanie Plum fan I didn't think this was one of the best books. I thought it got a bit muddly in the middle and ended very abruptly. I did like the ending though with Sally coming to rescue, although the way it's now hanging up in the air with Joe again annoyed me. For god sake woman you're a grown up. Either make a commitment or dump him.

I feel the same about Joe -- Dump him or commit. Geesh. The scenes with and without Ranger have me searching for that special scent that leaves me weak-kneed.

Grandma Mazur is funny -- for the first few books. No pun intended, but I think she's getting kinda old -- same jokes, different book.

I enjoy the Plum novels. Thanks for sending this my way!!

Received yesterday as part of book ring. I enjoy the plum series very much. I really think much of my enjoyment is that book is set in Trenton NJ. Have lived all my life just outside of Trenton and worked there for many years. So much (but not all) of the places, streets, neighborhoods etc. are reasonably accurate. This book described some really bad sections of the city (where I got stuck as a landlord of some buildings) and was scarred to death much of the time I had to go there and could not wait to get rid of the houses (including the one that had been taken over as a brothel). Any way I thank you for sending the book to me and will be ready to mail it back in a day or two.
