i love LKH(her old stuff) and this has a vignette from the Anita Blake series, the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlene Harris, and something from the realm of the Undead series by MaryJanice Davidson which is just freakin kickass!!! cant wait to get into it!

The Anita Blake story was really short but coo cause it had Jean Claude in it :) had all the trademark sex shit in it though.

The Sookie story was cute, although she didnt state when it took place. I would guess sometime after the latest book Dead to the World. It was interesting though, and even if Eric wasnt in it, Bubba was *giggle* hes the best lol

MaryJanice's story was set in the Undead world, which was what i was hoping since that is my fav vamp series of all time *big grin* It wasnt from Betsy's POV though. had Sinclair in it and the story was kidna weird and thrown together, but what can you do with just a few pages to tell a tale.

Angela Knight's story opened me up to her vamp series which sounds incredibly interesting... It's all about Merlin and shit

Vickie Taylor's story was rather boring and very thrown together... wasnt that crazy about it...

I really enjoyed this short stories! I really had no idea what to expect from these as I have never read anything by the authors involved. Needless to say I will now be on the hunt for most of these authors so I can read a full length novel.
This was definately a quick and fun read!

Ready to send onto NeedSun later this week :)

Reading the stories by Charlaine Harris and Laurell K. Hamilton was like returning to visit with some old friends. The stories were both entertaining. The other stories were by authors I haven't read yet and now plan on looking up some of the things they have written. I enjoyed the entire book and I should add, I am not a fan of short stories.

Thanks for sharing your book! It will be in the mail tomorrow.

I enjoyed this. I liked the MaryJanice Davidson and Laurell K Hamilton stories the best. I will be mailing this to the next person tomorrow.

I really liked the story Blood Lust too. I looked up Vickie Taylor on Amazon to see what else she has out. She has a book called Carved in Stone coming out in June that sounds really good.

I know my month deadline of keeping this book is nearing. I've started it and am about 1/2 way through it. Hopefully I can finish it in time to get it sent out Friday, but if not, it will definitely go out next week. I PMed nokturnalmuse already and they have asked to be skipped so I will be sending it on to CdnBlueRose next.

I will post again after I have completed the book and/or when I ship it out.

8 out of 10

Finished this today, but had already gone to the PO so this will have to go out in next week's mail. (most likely next Friday, but possibly sooner)

I read all but the Laurell K. Hamilton story. I skipped it because I saw it fell into place between books in the series, which I haven't started reading. I'll get a hold of that story somehow once I get to that point. :)

As for the others... I enjoyed them all. I think the order I liked them in is:

MaryJanice Davidson
Charlaine Harris
Angela Knight
Vickie Taylor

I had never heard of Knight or Taylor so I'll definitely be looking out for more of their books. I'm not sure if Taylor has any vampire novels or not though. I was trying to look them up on Fantasticfiction.com.

I've read Davidson's first 2 Undead books and loved them so was pleasantly surprised that the story mentioned the same characters.

I haven't read the Southern Vampire books by Harris yet, but have some of them on Mt. TBR waiting for me. Being introduced to a few characters in the story, I figure I'm going to like it. Didn't realize it tied in with the series though or I probably would've tried to figure out if it was in the middle or not before reading.

Anyway, I'll get this off to Rosie soon.

Thanks so much for sharing BelleMorte and Sweetpea for sending it to me. :)

8 out of 10

I'm not usually the biggest fan of short stories or novellas, but I wanted to give this a try anyway since I really like several of these series. I'm glad I did! I enjoyed all the stories in this, and would especially recommend it to fans of any of the series included!

Laurell K.'s was actually a little better than I was expecting. I've been getting pretty fed up with her stuff lately, but this story was fun. OK, so there wasn't a lot of point to it if you get down to the nitty-gritty, but hey, what do you want from a short story?

Charlaine Harris's was a little slower than I thought it would be, but still good. But then I read that one first, so maybe I just wasn't in short story mode yet. I'm not entirely clear on the timing of that story as far as the Sookie stories go, but I think it comes between the 3rd and 4th books, which works out well for me since that's how far I've read them to date!

MaryJanice Davidson's was less slap-stick hysterical than the full-length Undead stories, but I think that may have been because we weren't seeing things from Betsy's point-of-view. But it was still fun to see that world from a new perspective, especially since that's still one of my favorite series.

I've never had a chance to read any of Angela Knight's books, but I've been interested for a while so it was nice to have a sneak peak. The setting/world-building seemed a little cutsey-cheesy, but that may have been more a result of getting it all explained within the time constraints of a short story. I really liked that one, though, and am very interested in checking out her full-length novels. From this, I'm betting her stories are more like Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunters than Charlaine Harris's or Laurell Hamilton's vampire stories. Luckily, I like them all!

And I'd never heard of Vickie Taylor before. I wasn't thrilled with her story when I started reading, but it really grew on me so that by the end I thought it was quite good. I was checking around for other things she's written, and she seems to have gotten her start writing for Harlequin, and has a new book out with Berkley Sensation called Carved In Stone. It's a paranormal romance involving shape-shifting gargoyles, which sounds like a fun new twist to me!

Thanks so much for including me in this ring, and thanks to Sand for sending it my way! :)

Journal Entry 28 by Apolonia from Lynn, Massachusetts USA on Friday, October 21, 2005

This book has not been rated.

I just finished this book today. I was going to skip the first two since I haven't read any of the Laurell K. Hamilton stories and wanted to read the, in order. I also only have read 1 book of the Southern Vampires series byCharlaine Harris so I was going to skip that one two. Of course I ended up reading them all! I started from the back and worked my way foward. I liked Blood Lust and I don't think I have read anything by this author so I will have to do some research and see what else she has out there.
I think Galahad by Angela Knight was my favorite! Excellent story and HOT sex scenes! I am going to add her her book to my wishlist right away.
I was disapointed with Biting in Plain Site I have only read one other of MaryJanice Davidson's books and it was Derik's Bane which I liked a lot. I just feel like the story was develpoed enough or something.
The Charlaine Harris one wasn't bad, but it you haven't read the series I think t gives some stuff away.
The Laurell K. Hamilton one wasn't bad but it kind of left you hanging. It does make me want to tackle the series which has been sitting around here for awhile. I just haven't had the motivation to read a whole series.
I am unsure what to do with the book at this point. I am the last one on the ring and I have tried to contact Bellemorte several times over the last few weeks. Nokturnalmuse who was on the ring and asked to be skipped is interested in getting the book, so I don't really know what to do without speaking to Bellemorte first. For the time being I am going to hold in in a pile that I have for Nokturnalmuse, hopefully I will hear from Bellemorte soon.

I wasn't terribly impressed. I generally am not a fan of short stories anyway, and this was nothing special. I liked the MaryJanice Davidson story - the others were mediocre at best. I love Laurell K. Hamilton ordinarily, but the short story was kind of blah and rushed. The Sookie series is fairly good - I'll be interested to see what they do with the HBO series! - but the short story was so-so. I wasn't impressed with the other 2 stories.

I just messaged BelleMorte to see if she still wants her book returned.
