I enjoyed Bidulka's first Russell Quant book, Amuse Bouche, and decided I'd give the second course a try...
Later: [Read this in August of 2005] This book wasn't as lively (or as mouth-watering) as the first; I found it a bit aimless, in fact, with Quant wandering around more than usual. [I was also a little disappointed that the hints of possible relationships from the previous book seem to have evaporated in this one - that intriguing priest, for example, was nowhere to be seen!] And the "flight of aquavit" of the title was a long time turning up, and didn't seem to have as much connection to the story as in the previous food/title theme. [I realize that themed titles may not always be a perfect fit, but this one felt like a stretch.]
I've read the third Russel Quant book too, and I liked that one much better than this, so perhaps this was just one of those things. Will be interested to see what happens next in this series...
