Journal Entry 1 by Martie-Kr from Mentor, Ohio USA on Saturday, January 15, 2005
Picked this one up at a library sale not realizing I had a copy from another bookcrosser. I found this to be a rather slow moving book and the characters didn't seem to grab my interest. However, I did finish it and it was an average cozy mystery. Could have moved at a brisker pace but an okay read. I like Nancy Pickard's Jenny Crain series better. Synopsis: Eugenia Potter heads the call of her soul by visiting an archaeological camp amid the magnificent cliff dwellings of Colorado's Mesa Verde after finding pottery shards on her ranch. But strange things are happening at Mesa Verde, from the director's increasing mental confustion to a visitor's grisly death. Even a Talking Circle-a traditional ritual facilitated by the passing around of an ear of blue corn-doesn't reveal the source of the trouble. And when a busload of youngsters out on a dig disappears without a trace, Mrs. Potter begins some digging herself...to unearth a cruel scheme, a long-buried secret, and the deadly fruits of a killer's dark hungers.
