Journal Entry 5 by Sabavana from Old Toongabbie, New South Wales Australia on Tuesday, February 08, 2005
Recieved safely today from sarahbear - thanks. What a good excuse to go through my recipe books! I'm already drooling at sarahbear's Chocolate Clusters, and senna1's Quick Spanish Beef is definately going to find it's way onto my dinner table. I hope after the journal is finished, it will go around again so we can see everyone else's yummy contributions.

Journal Entry 6 by Sabavana from Old Toongabbie, New South Wales Australia on Sunday, February 13, 2005
My hand hurts from writing up my three yummy recpies, but it was all in a good cause. I'll send the journal off to tqd next, but not before I photocopy the recipies already in it :-) Such a great idea senna1! Edited to add that I'd love to be emailed all the recipes from the finished journal please :-)

Journal Entry 7 by tqd from Sydney, New South Wales Australia on Wednesday, February 16, 2005
Turned up in the mail yesterday, thanks Sabavana! And thanks senna1 for starting this journal! I'm drooling over the butterscotch pancakes recipe already. Oinkarama. (And I might be photocopying a few - or a lot of - pages before passing it along myself!)

Journal Entry 8 by tqd from Sydney, New South Wales Australia on Tuesday, June 21, 2005
My apologies for sitting on this for so long!!! I have two excellent excuses, however! An impulse house move and a baby turning up early... The best laid plans of mice and mums oft go astray... At any rate, little Nell had a nice long nap this morning, so I've finally scrawled in some quick recipes (pesto; pasta with pesto, bacon & tomatoes; blueberry muffins; guacamole) and it's ready to be mailed to Fleebo! Once again, my apologies for the stalling, but it'll be on its way soon!

Journal Entry 9 by Fleebo from Sydney, New South Wales Australia on Tuesday, July 12, 2005
Received from tqd at the Sydney CBD meet tonight, at ZanziBar in Newtown. Baby Nell came along too - although she didn't seem particularly thrilled by the idea of blueberry muffins, I'm sure she'll come round (in a few years). Now contemplating what to add to the book...

Journal Entry 10 by Fleebo from Sydney, New South Wales Australia on Thursday, August 25, 2005
Ow ow ow, my poor hand. Reminds me of the days when I used to draw for a living... I've added recipes for Pad Thai, Bachelor Chicken, Tink's Vegetarian Chili and Apple Chocolate Cake. Hey senna1, do you have any plans to scan and share the book when it gets back to you? I'm going to copy what's already in here but I hate to think of the recipes to come, which I will miss... (hint, hint, oh so subtle hint) PMing Pixette for her address, as Kirst040 has asked to be skipped. ******************* Pad Thai 6 oz. uncooked rice noodles or vermicelli (enough to make 3 cups cooked) 5 tablespoons soy sauce 2 tablespoons peanut butter 1 tablespoon brown sugar 3 tablespoons peanut oil (regular vegetable oil will do) 3 eggs, beaten 6 scallions (eschallots), cut in 1-inch lengths (whites and greens) 250g fresh mung bean sprouts 3 cloves garlic, crushed up to 1 ½ teaspoons crushed red chilli (to taste) 1 lb firm tofu, cut in small cubes (probably less. Fried tofu puffs are my favourite, or plain firm tofu) 1/3 cup cider vinegar 1 ½ cups chopped toasted peanuts (I have NEVER used this ingredient in this recipe. It’s just garnish.) lime wedges 1. Cook the noodles in boiling water. Drain, rinse in cold water, drain again. Set aside. 2. Combine the soy sauce, peanut butter, brown sugar in a small bowl. Mash to a uniform paste. Set aside. 3. Heat a wok or large skillet. Add 1 tablespoon oil, and cook eggs, stirring, until dry. Remove cooked egg and set aside. 4. Heat wok or skillet again, allowing it to get quite hot. Add 2 tablespoons oil, scallions, bean sprouts, garlic and red pepper. Stir fry a minute or so. Add tofu and stir fry a few more minutes. 5. Add noodles to wok or skillet. Stir-fry, attempting to combine everything as uniformly as possible, about 5 more minutes. 6. Add the peanut butter paste from step 2 along with the vinegar. Stir and cook several more minutes. 7. Stir in the cooked egg. Serve immediately, topped with peanuts and accompanied by wedges of lime. ******************* The great thing about this recipe is that it uses no fresh ingredients (apart from the garlic). I always, always have the ingredients in the house so I can make it anytime. Tink's Veggie Chili 1 clove garlic, crushed 1 tin kidney beans, rinsed 1 tin spicy chili beans (no rinse) 1 tin stewed or peeled tomatoes (no rinse) 1 tin corn kernels, rinsed 1 tsp cumin powder 2 tsp chili powder 1/2 tsp cocoa tabasco Combine chili beans, kidney beans, tomatoes, corn and garlic. Set over low heat, stirring regularly. Add cumin, chili powder and cocoa, blending into beans. Add 4-5 drops tabasco. Stir over low heat until it begins to bubble lightly. Serve in bowls over rice, top with grated cheese.

Journal Entry 12 by Pixette from Sydney, New South Wales Australia on Monday, September 26, 2005
Thanks for the recipes already entered in the book. I'll probably be trying a few of them before long. In this golden age of computing my handwriting has deteriorated. I had no idea how much of a challenge writing legibly would be. But the task is now complete and the recipe journal has been posted off to Cathyinoz today.

Journal Entry 14 by cathyinoz from Warrandyte, Victoria Australia on Thursday, September 29, 2005
Aussie Bookcrossing Recipe Journal just arrived here today. Goodie, now I won't have to think up something for dinner, I'll just make something from here. Thanks for sharing! Actually i think I'll share this little recipe here online. I went back to Canada recently to visit family and spent a lot of time drinking pink lemonade. When I got back to Melb our lemon tree was dumping it's fruit all over the back lawn. Me thought to meself, "How do they make the lemonade pink and ... there must be a recipe for it online somewhere." And there was! (Having a juicer makes this waaaay easier) PINK LEMONADE 1 cup lemon juice 1/2 cup cranberry juice (oh, that's how they do it) 1 cup sugar 4 and 1/2 cups cold water Mix and stir. Aaaahhh!

Yum, yum, yum... you guys have outdone yourself with your contributions! Senna, you will be so pleased with what has been written here - it could become a famous bookcrossing cookbook! It arrived in the post this morning, and already I have added a few recipes but seeing as I am towards the end, and there are plenty of free pages left, I think I will add a few more. Thanks so much for including me - and please add me to the list for a copy of the recipes. [NB. Just a thought.... I can actually type mine up and email them back to Senna if that's easier for the copies to be sent out? Let me know!] Updated 15/01/06 - Have PM'd aussieangel for her details, and will pop this in the post this week. Senna, I will send through my recipes on email to you as well. Cheers!

I'm really sorry for holding this up for so long. I've finally managed to get some recipes added - not the ones I wanted to though as I misplaced the book I was going to use! I've added the following which are favourites in our house: Any Muffin recipe Milo Toast - sounds horrible but the kids love it! Chicken and Herb Meatballs (Weight Watchers) Macaroni, Mince and Cheese I would love a copy of the other recipes in the journal when it returns! I've contacted star1978 and will post as soon as I have an address.

This ring is going great guns! Thanks to everyone who has participated so far. There are only five more participants before the book comes back to me so please don't forget to make a note in your journal entry if you would like a copy of all of the recipes and I will PM you for an email to send them (think all the recipes might be a bit much for a PM to handle!!). Journal Entry 35 by senna1 from Parafield Gardens, South Australia Australia on Tuesday, January 09, 2007
Well, it looks like this journal has gone forever. My pm's have received no response. What a disappointment. I wonder if there's a way around it? I noticed that most have you have journalled the recipes you've added. Would it be too much to ask everyone to type up their recipes and send them to me (PM me for my email address)? I could collate them and email to everyone on the list (even those that didn't get a chance to add to the journal). I hope to hear from you. Now I just have to remember the recipes I added... Helen

Or as CathyinOz (brilliant girl she is!) suggested, you could just add a new journal entry with your recipes...or edit an old journal entry. That way they're there for whoever wants to see them & y'all don't have to wait for me to send them all out.

Journal Entry 38 by miss-gonewest from Perth, Western Australia Australia on Thursday, January 11, 2007
I have all of mine typed up (as sent to Senna last year).... I can journal them here or if you like I can email them if you'd like a copy? I put in recipes for: Chocolate Beetroot Cake (it's divine), Greek Rice Pudding, Micro French Potato Salad & Easy Beef Empanada's. Senna - I've just tried to email you but the email address I used last year seems to be bouncing back??

Journal Entry 43 by bookfairy65 from Yass, New South Wales Australia on Saturday, April 21, 2007
Hugely excited to receive this in yesterday's mail (I've been away a few days so couldn't journal till today). There was a time when I didn't think this journal would ever make it's way to my place - I'm so glad it did! I have already had a quick flick through it, and am loving some of the stories that go with the recipes - Fleebo's dinner party at Kenvale College sounds very odd indeed!!! Some of the recipes look great and I can't wait to try some and add a few of my own. I won't keep this journal too long, I'm sure the last few participants are keen to see this book as well, and I imagine senna1 must be dying to get her hands on it again, seeing as it's been travelling for well over two years now. bf65

Journal Entry 49 by luckydipper from Coolangatta, Queensland Australia on Friday, June 08, 2007
What a great collection of recipes, I took the journal to work with me the other day and my boss had a look through and photocopied a few that took her fancy, she made Bachelor Chicken that night for dinner, and said it was yummy. I have added a few, one was rather large and took 4 pages for me to write it all, yes a very adventurous recipe but worth it in the end. I added: Peter's Lamb Curry Caramel Bubble Bars (recipe Below) Some Ideas and Tips Marinated Feta Lemonade Scones Potato Bake Caramel Bubble Bars 4 Mars Bars 30g Margarine 3 Cups rice bubbles Chop Mars Bars into pieces and place in a large saucepan with margarine over medium heat stir till melted. Stir in rice bubbles. Press into lined tin (baking paper) or container and refrigerate. Cut into squares or strips. Note: It is easier to cut if it is still warm (not hot) it seems to break up if it is too cold when you try to cut it. I will be sending the journal off home on Tuesday.
