Journal Entry 1 by AngelChild from Rochester, Kent United Kingdom on Wednesday, January 12, 2005
By the author of "Paddy Clarke Ha Ha Ha", winner of the 1993 Booker Prize, this is the life history of Paula Spencer - her contented childhood, her romance with Charlo, and her sad marriage. It is the story of a working class woman in her 30s who is both vulnerable and strong.

Journal Entry 2 by AngelChild from Rochester, Kent United Kingdom on Wednesday, January 26, 2005
Hmmmmmm.... I was expecting more from this book. I was told it was about a woman in an abusive marriage, and it was..... accept that the abusive marriage bit didnt start til Chapter 25 and theres only 30 Chapters in total! lol I felt that this area of Paula's life should have been explored more, and i might have given up if it was'nt written by Doyle, as i love his style. Although it can get a bit annoying with no speech marks. This will now be going to psychjo to keep her ring going :o)
