This book provoked some interesting discussion among my predominantly Catholic book club members (can't help myself, I like to stir things up).

This book presents a slightly different view of the life and intent of Jesus the Christ, on the role of women in his life and in the Christian heirarchy, and presents "information" on a secret society within the Catholic church, which is dedicated to keeping this knowledge secret. Part of this secret can be revealed by close examination of one of Da Vinci's painting. This book is part mystery, part history, part fiction....you decide.

The ring continues with a brand-new book (original book was stalled in Sept '04, never to be seen again). Bon voyage!

I can certainly see why this has been such a popular book. It's quite a unique story. I had heard about the subject matter before, but didn't know all of the details that Dan Brown puts forth. Whether or not it's true ... well, I guess that's something each reader will have to decide for themselves. I'm glad I finally got a chance to read it, thanks hotflash. It was definitely a page turner. Will look forward to hearing the rest of the reactions to this one.

This book arrived in the mail this morning, just 6 days after being sent from the USA.
I shall start reading this book today and get it sent off as soon as possible. :o)

I really enjoyed reading this book, mostly from the mystery side of it.
It was great to chase around the place with the two main characters, as well as following the smaller characters.
I like the way that we kept going between the characters and what they were doing, and how they all went together.
I didn't expect the person near the end to have been a part of it all in that way, rather unexpected but it all made sense.

Sorry that I have held onto the book for so long.
Somehow I will get the book to Canada for Nelle to read. :o)

RELEASE NOTES:

I gave this book to Skyring to take with him to the BC Convention in Ft. Worth, to carefully handover to Nelle.

This has saved me a great deal in postage costs and the book will get to Nelle in April. :o)

I'm allowed two bags on my flight. One will be for all my clothes and books and papers and stuff. And the other will be for this great big heavy large format hardback book.

But when Rarsberry smiled sweetly at me, what could I do?

Besides which, this book has already made it back over the Tasman, where we are only allowed 20kgs each, so I should be right to lug it halfway around the world the long way.

Rarsberry also gave me a little brown flightless friend to take for a walk.

Thanks, Skyring, for delivering it safely to me in Ft. Worth! It is rather large and I appreciate your effort! I will read it ahead of the other books I picked up in Ft. Worth and get it on it's way to Tintagel as soon as possible.

This was a fascinating book...very fast-paced so it was difficult to put down! I feel that there is more than a grain of truth in the theories put forward. Most established religions( especially Roman Catholic) are extremely patriarchal. I think that this is a well executed plan wrought by influencial men who aspire to dominate the world around them by whatever means necessary.
I also enjoyed reading "The Mists of Avalon" by Marion Zimmer Bradley. I have never felt the same aboutSt. Patrick's Day since I learned that the "snakes" he drove out of Ireland were actually so-called "pagans" (ie: anyone who did not follow the rules set out by the Roman Catholic church!) Reading the Da Vinci Code has stimulated my interest in other books by Dan Brown and I have added them to my "Wish List". I have also done a little research into Leonardo Da Vinci's works. I saw them in the Louvre about 15 years ago but I obviously didn't pay enough attention to detail!
It will be interesting to see how this story is portrayed in the upcoming movie. I think that Tom Hanks will be well cast as Robert Langdon.

I will be mailing this book to Tintagel and I hope she enjoys it as much as I did.

Picked this book up at the post office today. It has been placed on top of Mount TBR and I look forward to reading it.

Excellent read - it has all of the elements that I like in a mystery. Brown certainly presents a different slant of the foundation of Catholisism.
I will release this book in the mail to Aset01 in France once I receive the address.

sorry for the delay. I'm actually moving.... for the second time (ask me why if youw ant all the scary details :-)). Fortunately hotflash was kind enough to give me it's bcid so i can register that i have received it. It is just buried in one of my packages :-)

Is this book lost in the move? The Lost Book Island invites this book to crawl out of that box, shake off its pages and come on over to the island for a little rest and relaxation. There are many fun things to do here including time on the beach and our super fancy night club.

It is hoped that this book will get to return to its book ring journey very soon and get that new journal entry to let us all know where this book has been hiding for these many months.

Looks like The DaVinci code got sick of island life and has found its way back to the mainland, FIVE YEARS LATER !!!! Talk about a travelling book! Happy to see this book come out of lost status.
Now it can continue its journey or maybe just rest on a shelf. Please feel free to keep, release, or pass along.
