"The tale of an illegitimate member of the squirearchy earning his inheritance by increasingly nasty methods - gassing, suing, whipping, blowing up, killing, stuffing - is both inventive and pacy" NEW STATESMAN
"Crazy, but done with a savage delight which will have you lauging aloud" DAILY MIRROR
"Black humour and comic anarchy at its best" SUNDAY TIMES
"Sharpe is funny, bitter, a danger to his public and should be wildly applauded by all right thinking men and women" THE LISTENER
I read this a good few years back now - and whilst this sort of thing is not really my usual fare, I did find it fairly entertaining (if occasionally a little confusing, slow & tedious) I seem to remember. Very "League Of Gentlemen" but with elements too of "Sir Henry At Rawlinson End" and maybe even "Withnail and I" and *god knows* what else. If you like your humour bitter & twisted, dark and cruel, satirical, angry and absurd - this one's probably for you!
