I found this trade paperback on the bargain table at the new Border's in Silver Spring, Maryland.

It appears to me that the ISBN on the back of the book doesn't match the one inside the book.

My husband recently read this book and thought that I'd like it. I'm tossing it onto Mt. TBR in the meantime!

I started reading this book today for the June 2016 TIOLI challenge on Librarything to read a book that has a word or phrase on page 70 that refers to some aspect of marijuana. (Stoned)

Oops! Over ten years have gone by since I acquired this book. :D That Border's in Silver Spring no longer exists!

I read 56 of 211 pages and decided that I don't like this book enough to finish reading it. Away it goes...

I picked this book up at the meet-up because I have been interested in reading it for some time. I actually had a copy that I gave to Ixion for her wedding because it involved a road trip.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:

So, this gets a little complicated. The Travel Narrative book box is at my house and I sent a list of the contents to the locals to see if they wanted to participate. ResQgeek decided to piggyback on my turn and he wanted to add this book to the box in return for what he was taking out. But I won't be seeing him until next month and I can't hold onto the box that long. So, this copy of the book that was on my TBR shelf is going in the box and he will send me the copy of it that he has later. Happy travels Mr. Albert.

Any future reader or recipient of this book is encouraged to leave a journal entry here on the BookCrossing site to let prior readers know the fate of the book. I've read excerpts from this book in The Atlantic or the New Yorker, or somewhere. A fun, idiosyncratic tour, but not what I feel like reading right now. Will pass it along in the travel narratives book box.

I'm not taking this out of the box, but as I've read this in a bookring a while back, I just want to chirp in with my comment:

This is an interesting travelogue including a young man somewhat aimless in life, an 80-year-old whose life was altered by the brain he couldn't relinquish possession of, and, silent in the truck but heavy in his presence, Albert Einstein, or rather, his brain in little pieces in a tupperware container.

This is definitely one weird trip I would not take. In all honesty, the drive itself was rather unremarkable. The author has, however, peppered the trip with interesting tidbits of Einstein's life, a brief introduction of relativity, as well as reflections on American culture. His wry observations do not put anybody in a favorable light, but capture each character in an authentic, lively hologram.
