10 out of 10

Wrote a lovely long entry and then the system glitched on me.
Joe has lived in NZ for 15 years and is a local author. One day he decided to pack his bag and hitchhike around NZ.A very enjoyable, funny book,I related more to the South Island as I had visited most of the places there.Joe even stayed in the same hotel I had stayed in last year.Worked out that he did his hitchhiking in 2003 as it mentions Te Anau earthquake.
Some of the Christchurch bookcrossers had a chance to meet Joe when I invited him to a mini convention we had in 2004.He is extremely funny and very quick to pick on what people say much to my embarrassment.
I will be offering this book up as a bookring

Both Gary and I read this book - Sorry it took so long. Gary thought it was absolutely hilarious and kept interrupting my reading with quotes. I didn't find it quite so hilarious as it is quite "boy" oriented. I enjoyed the scurry around lots of familiar places. Have never heard of the in-ground lift in Wanganui
though.
Cheers

This book has not been rated.

Don't quite know why it has taken so long to get from Chch to Wellington. Arrived yesterday 28 April.

Have dipped quickly into it - looks like a good read. I'm ready for something a bit lighter having just finished "Children of God" Mary Doria Russell's sequel to "The Sparrow".
So much to read; so little time.

Humble apologies for taking so long with this book. I have thorougly enjoyed it and will be purchasing a copy to take with me when I go to Ireland where I hope to meet with bookcrossers there shortly. It seems like a really good book to introduce the idiosyncracies of NZers to others.
I also preferred the South Island parts even though I've travelled very little there so most of the places were unfamiliar. The smaller places were very similar to small places in the N.I. and I thought the writer was really good at capturing the Kiwi character. Thanks for putting this out as a bookring, Lyttletonwitch, Great idea.

Well finished this today and have PM'd Catsalive for a snail mail address.

I enjoyed this book - have added a few more items to my ever increasing 'would like to see' list. Trip to NZ will be next year now rather than this - so all the more time to what I love best - research :)

An interesting enough read, although I found it all a bit bland. It sounded like a fun thing to do though. Thanks everyone involved. I'll send this off to Amjoco tomorrow.

Posted 20/7/5.

Received this from catsalive - I confess I thought it was a RABCK on her part - kind of wondered why she asked for my address, but was thrilled to find a New Zealand book in my letterbox.

So I come here to journal it, and find I'm in a bookring! I must have said yes, a long time ago, and then forgotten all about it. :-) Ah, well, this book will jump the queue and I'll read it quite soon.

I enjoyed this book much more than the collections of Bennett's columns I've previously read. And of course it's always interesting to see your own country through "foreign" eyes (even if those eyes have lived here a long time!)

I'll take it along to the meetup today and see if I can tempt anyone.

I loved reading this book... I usually read while I was at work... Country Road @ Dress Smart. I would often laugh out loud while reading much to the surprise of the customers. The book was handed in to us the day after it was left on the seat outside our shop. This was a week before we had our 6.3 earthquake that demolished the city centre. I wonder if Joe has been back to ChCh to see our beloved city ?

I intend to drop this book off at the airport and hope someone finds it to continue the journey.
