Journal Entry 4 by calvarez4 at postal release in You Go Girl Bookbox, A Bookbox -- Controlled Releases on Sunday, March 13, 2005
Released 7 yrs ago (3/13/2005 UTC) at postal release in You Go Girl Bookbox, A Bookbox -- Controlled Releases WILD RELEASE NOTES:
RELEASE NOTES: I have mixed feelings about this book. I enjoyed having a closer look at Rosie O'Donnell, and who she really is as a person -- outside of her television persona. I also greatly appreciate her struggle to find her authentic self, particularly as she confronts the boundaries and walls she has constructed emotionally, as a result of abuse. However, I also felt like this book was too cursory to be effective, and that the story lacked the emotional depth that I think it warranted. I have not yet looked to see if Rosie has written anything else, but I would be interested in reading another memoir by her -- to see if she fills in the gaps that "Find Me" leaves. I am releasing this in Guinaveve's "You Go Girl" bookbox. Rosie is feisty, feminist, and a strong, strong woman. You go girl ;)

I'll confess, I don't like Rosie O'Donnell. The liner notes for the book look interesting and I admired O'Donnell's decision reported there to try to help a young woman concerned about adoption. I know celebrities pay a heavy price for their fame and must tackle many such appeals. O'Donnell was certainly kind to pay attention to a stranger just calling. But I don't agree with O'Donnell's opinionated stances on many issues. For the purpose of this entry, my opinion is not important. If I were to take up the book, I might discover O'Donnell is not as arrogant as she seems--or at least I hope I would. I just don't have the time now and it doesn't seem very important. Perhaps another reader will find something in the book to interest me more. For all the other readers, I'm letting this one go.
