This is the first book I've read by Will Shetterly. I was somewhat disappointed as I thought that more could have been done with some parts, but it was decent enough considering that it is a young adult book.

This book was part of my personal challenge to read one book by a new-to-me author that starts with each letter of the alphabet. Nevernever was my choice for N.

I'm putting this book in my permanent collection because I think that I want to keep it. I know that it won't be released into the wild, but I might be persuaded to trade it for soemthing on my wishlist. It would depend on what was offered.

This book felt very different from the previous book. Ron (Wolfboy) felt like a completely different character (I know he's changed but he's almost unrecognizable). And I never really felt like I got into the book. There was a twist at the end that I didn't see coming, but I also don't think that I "believe" in the twist. It didn't really seem to fit together very smoothly. Or maybe it was just all wrapped up too quickly.

This was not nearly as enjoyable as Elsewhere was for me. It was like it was about a different person from the first book, though it was supposedly the same character. There's a review quote on the back of the book that says "a delightfully funny book... even better than the first" - obviously written by someone with a VERY different idea of funny from mine, as I didn't find anything funny about this book, and no where near as good as the first! I was annoyed by the "digressions" the author put in parentheses throughout the book - I thought they detracted from the story. The central character, Ron, was VERY different in this one, and I actually didn't like him as much - he seemed fake. I was quite disappointed really as I totally enjoyed Elsewhere and I was looking for more of the same in Nevernever - and I sure didn't find it. Anyway, they are now going to appaloosatb who chose them from the Teen Fiction VBB and I'll be interested to read her views on them!

While I didn't enjoy this book as much as the first one, I did really like the ending. Ron went through a lot of changes, so I felt like the changes to his personality were very realistic.
