The general consensus on this book seems to be that it's a poorly written piece of cr*p, however I disagree. I actually really enjoyed this book and loved the unique style in which it was written. There are parts in the story that I'm sure alot of women could relate to, (and a hell of alot that they maybe couldn't), but the book does illustrate that relationships are not neccesarily always as they seem. I am lending this book to a friend to read, (she may or may not journal it), and after that it will become available. Edited to add: Received this book back from my friend, she didn't journal it but I think she enjoyed it!

Thanks for sending this one. Sorry for the delay in journalling but I picked it up and started reading and could not stop, then forgot all about journalling. This is no literary masterpiece but it is an engrossing read, particularly the female perspective and certainly addresses issues that are not readily addressed. I will not wild release this one, in case someone finds it offensive but will check wishlists to see if anyone would like it.

Journal Entry 8 by leeny37 from Melbourne, Victoria Australia on Friday, November 25, 2005
I must confess, I have been naughty. I was supposed to start on a bookring but I ended up reading this one instead. I wasn't a big fan of the second-person narrative. I think when used effectively, it is a great way of telling a story, but somehow the impact was lost when it was used throughout the entire book. That said, it does cover some issues that I believe women think about but will never ever speak of; I certainly know I can't. Being Asian and from a conservative culture, conversations about sex are always iffy to me and no matter how many "sexually-liberating" books I read, I reckon I will always be like this, heh. Anyways, thanks again, goodthinkingmax, for the RABCK, I'll start browsing wishlists or offer it on BCAUS to pass on this book! :)

Thank you leeny37, another book I have heard about a lot, often thought about getting but somehow it hasn't happened. It goes on Mt TBR for a while since the bookring have done their usual trick and arrived all at once. But then I will definitely keep it moving on.

Journal Entry 11 by bookworm-BNE from Brisbane, Queensland Australia on Monday, May 08, 2006
My friend read it a few months ago and really liked it so I have kept it on Mt TBR and finally got to it last week. Found the forst 100 pages uninspiring but then it took off. Really spins around in your head for a while afterwards. The short chapters were a bit annoying but I'm glad I read it, the secret life needs to be exposed and validated, don't we all have secret sides? Not all like that I'm sure but still... Thanks for sharing Amily and everyone up to leeny37, I'm making this available for now, may go to a BC meet, we'll see.

Very happy to win this one - and keep the tradition alive :) It came in the post last night and I'm already 2/3rds of the way through. I had heard some interesting things from friends but didn't know what to expect. I guess being from the 'sex and the city' generation I've found some of the material already well-trodden ground as far as 'controversial' media about women and sex goes. The 2nd person/diary is an interesting way of dealing with the ideas - however, I tend to enjoy a book more if I like the main character...I'm pretty sure I don't like her :) ... but the read has been very entertaining so far. Thanks Bookworm-BNE!
