'The words had been printed in block capitals. Big, careful, childish (or perhaps just completely impersonal) block capitals. At an angle, across the dotted lines where the customer was supposed to have written his name and number of his cheque account, Borck read: THE THING IN MY POCKET IS A REVOLVER. HAND OVER THE CASH YOU'VE GOT IMMEDIATELY WITHOUT AROUSING SUSPICION. Borck was the last to leave the bank. The chance discovery of this message on a counterfoil encouraged him to believe that a cashier's life left a lot to be desired...'

This might not be very high or fine literature, but in its genre it's not bad - it has probably even reached the status of a sort of classic in Danish crime literature!

I have read the book many times - for the first time now in an English translation - and though it has never given me sleepless nights, it has always managed to keep my attention!

This book is journeying to Catalonia where it will be joined by my friend Qualsevolnit - who might even consider taking the book on an much longer journey :-)

I got the book on Tuesday, but I didn't have a chance to register it. Thank Nenhumolhar for this: it will be a good company for my long trip.

=================================================================

I finally read it during a two-day stay at a beach in the Pacific ocean. It was very funny to read about frozen Denmark, Christmas and snow under the shade of a palm hut, hearing the ocean roar. Afterwards, when the book moves southwards and there is actually heat and a beach... I was already back inland :)

Anyway, I liked it. It is a very interesting and entertaining book. The plot is excellent and it is very well deployed. It keeps the thrill for the whole 222 pages... and I loved the end, too.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

RELEASE NOTES:

The book from my good friend Nenhumolhar that accompanied me in Nicaragua, went back to Luxembourg and scaped from a release in a newspaper office in September will now be released to participate in an artistic project by a fellow bookcrosser. I still have to decide whether in Henry Moore's sculpture or in the BCEE (it will depend on the wheather, on the light and on the artist).
