Meyer writes with a straightforward style. The ideas, though not profound, are worth taking to heart.

I just got in the mail this afternoon. :) I think the mailman forgot it the first time he came by! So far, the book is wonderful. Ms. Meyer has some good points and it's fun looking up the scriptures. It's amazing- she's written over 50 books!

Thank you, kimkerry!

6/5/2007:
In chapter six, when Ms. Meyer discussed how she used to be Martha (fussing about unimportant things) instead of Mary (enjoying her company's fellowship), it seemed like she was describing me! This book talks to me in so many ways.

Then, on p. 78, when she talks about people having one foot in the kingdom and one foot in the world, it reminded me of a recent study on christian youth. Have you seen the big hullabaloos that have been going on about abstinence? Christian teens will gather en masse for big conventions and meetings (sometimes combined with christian rock concerts) that promote abstinence. Most of these teens make pledges to save themselves for marriage. This is a great movement. However, a recent study has shown that these kids still go out and have sex just like their nonreligious peers. It's believed to be because of the cognitive dissonance caused by living a godly life at home and in church- and then living a worldy life in school and with friends. Instead of living chastely, as they pledged, they merely delay sexual activity a bit longer than the average teen. Isn't that a shame?

This was pretty basic stuff, but sometimes it is nice to go back over the basics. I would recommend this book. Sometimes we overlook some of the simplest solutions to our problems and overcomplicate things, like Joyce Meyer writes about.
I plan to release this at my church on my next stop there where I know it will be picked up and appreciated. Thanks for sharing it, cheli-garza.
