While at first the reader may not see where the story is headed, it becomes clear that the protaganist's past sets the stage for the present which is presented side-by-side in alternating chapters. Molea does a good job at creating the protagonist, Rocky, and describing what makes him tick. It becomes apparent that Vince, the shady lawyer, is doing more than trying to befriend Rocky. Vince's relationship with Rocky, at least to this reviewer, first appears to be innocent, but as the book progresses, it becomes obvious that their relationship is more parasitic; secrets come out at the end of the story about this lawyer, which will tie it all together.

I am recommending DUCK BLOOD SOUP. It's well written all around, and I hope that Molea continues to write, as he shows he's got what it takes to write a good book. Excellent!

I started out enjoying the past-present structure to this book but thought it dragged too long making the middle chapters seem like repetition of old ground. It picked up again in the last third so overall not bad. This is going to the Leeds bookcrossing at the Wrens, from whence it came.
