I actually started to read this one. Mirz gets it after Cliff and I finish it.

I finished this one a while back and never got around to journaling it. This is the fourth book by Chuck Palahniuk I've read, and it's probably my least favorite of his. The plot structure is very similar to his other books (which I think is a strength), but I didn't really get attached to any of the characters. It's an alright book, but I didn't feel satisfied by it at the end.

I can only echo MarahSulloy's sentiments. I never got attached to the characters the way I did in Invisible Monsters…and by that, I don't necessarily mean that I liked them, just that they gripped me. Still, it was readable at least. I polished this one off while spending lots of time in planes and airports recently, so it served its purpose well.

okkk, hmmm. This was my first one by this author and I did not know what to expect. I wish I had not had such a busy week to be able to really appreciate all the nuances, references, etc. It is so subtle all the way thru then the ending is an "in your face" one. I enjoyed reading it very much and can not wait to try another one! Think I know just who to send it to next.

Journal Entry 8 by LaughAtlantis from San Francisco, California USA on Sunday, January 01, 2006
I received this as a part of the 'New Book for a New Year' surprise book relay, and I'm excited about it. Chuck Palahniuk has always been one of those writers that I have picked up, looked at the back of the book and said, "Eh. Maybe if I come across it at some point, I'll read it, but not now." So I'm excited to have something of his finally cross my path... I will journal once I have read it. Until then, however, I am letting my Secret New Year's Partner remain anonymous. Thanks!

I really enjoyed this book. It felt like a strange combination of Misery, The Lottery, and Rosemary's Baby. It was not at all what I expected - I was very pleasantly surprised. I have to admit, it took me a while to get into the book - the strange shifts between third and second person were somewhat distracting - but once it picked up and got truly twisted, I was hooked. Thanks, chomper!! Good pick!
