A chance to revisit . . . Dahl is difficult to classify, but he's always a grisly winner.
This is a fascinating collection, full of twists and twisty people. Many of the stories were conceived for a TV-omnibus series. (Holding for now as my 15-year-old read 'Lamb to the Slaughter' and was hooked!)

Arrived yesterday, thanks so much. I think I might have read this years ago in German and it was excellent. Let's see how it is in the original and how much I really remember!
I finally picked this up -- better late than never!
Read the first two short stories and then skimmed the rest. I read a book with his short stories a long time ago and really liked them. Now it just felt so dated to me and not really all that unexpected. Not gripping enough to keep me and my very short attention span hooked long enough to keep going. Sorry!
