I found a duplicate copy of this most famous of Atlanta books to share in bookcrossing. Gone With the Wind is a compelling story. It is built upon a very well-researched history of the war that ravaged Atlanta. Margaret Mitchell interviewed many of the survivors, who were still alive in her time, to present the events of the first modern war.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:

Here in the Atlanta area, there are so many wounds still from the Federal Government's attack upon a civilian population. I suppose for me the most compelling scenes of this book involve the naming of the dead young men, so many. I myself live within walking distance of an old family cemetery where 23 unidentified Confederate soldiers are burried. I sometimes think of all the families who must have waited in vain for them to return home.

I’ve read the Finnish translation when I was younger than I care to admit. It’ll be nice to read Gone With the Wind in original language.
