I found this book absolutely fascinating. I don't read a lot of nonfiction, but I was really intrigued by the factors that made Krakatoa's eruption one of the most catastrophic events in recorded history. Winchester's writing brings to life the plate tectonics, biology, colonial history, and human impact of Krakatoa's story.
