It's a great book about Wiesel's journey through life in concentration camps. It's one of the most interesting books that I've read. I first had to read it in sophomore history, and now it's a requirement for my college religion class. It won't be released until the class is over, if at all, but I'll hope that someone picks it up and likes it once it does get released.

Update 5/27/06:
This book is promised to a fellow BXer who will get it in late August (when I get back to school, where I had to leave it)!

what a powerful book and well written. I thank God every day and especially after reading this book, that I did not have to go through what Elie wiesel and many others.
Even through it was doing war times, it just seems people are so cruel and mean to others. As a christian if I was there I would have doubts if God was really near me through the horrible ordel. I know I would never give up on him.. but would wonder what kind of God would let this war go on.
I being a polish person thank god as far as I know that none of my family went through the nightmare this up close.
There is many parts of the book that I read that will haunt me to this day... babies throw into the air for target practice, a young boy who was so light that he hang for three hours before he died. A lady who before they got to auschwitz had a vision " look! look at it! fire! a terrible fire! mercy! oh that fire!'
May all the people who died, and suffer rest in peace and know there is a god who does love them and bless them for ever.
This book is going to my friend to read, then when she gaves it back to me I will be sending into another book crossing.
Love one another! Peace!

Sent to me from Oregon! This looks like a great book & a quick read. I'll read it as soon as I'm done with Angels & Demons and send it along to the next person.

109 pgs.

10/21/06-10/22/06
This was a terribly sad, but excellent book. I have read several other books on the Holocaust written by concentration camp survivors, I truly can't believe how one man believed he could abolish this entire race of people.
There are some excellent quotes in this book, (some of which have already been highlighted by someone before me.) I will recommend this book to others.

PM'd Bakerwhencan for mailing address.

I can't believe how powerful, and sad a slim book could be. I read this over the last 2 days not because of length, but because I found myself having to take breaks to take it in. I am grateful to Elie Weisel for having the courage to write this book. I won't forget it.

Thank you Chevygoddess and Fungirl503. I'll be sending this off to the next reader.

An excellent biography. Although a short book, I had to take time off from it to reflect on these haunting passages. Too bad the people who should read this won't. Still waiting for response to PM sent to QUEZ$%.

I never knew too much about the Holocaust, and what all those people had to endure for so long. After reading this book, I admire all of the persistence that those people had in the face of such awful circumstances.

I started to think how Elie must have felt when he thought about his mom and sister. Were they going through the same things as Elie and his dad? Were things a bit more "expedited" for them? I can't imagine what all of that must have been like ...

Off to midgetviking.

What can I say? I feel there are no words that I could use to describe all that went through me while and after reading this book. It's short but intense and so so so sad.

edit 9.8.2007: Posted today. I'm sorry about the delay, but at the moment I'm working in Lapland (in the middle of nowhere) and getting to the nearest Post Office is, shall I say a bit challenging :)

I didn't realise I hadn't made a journal entry for this book yet. I read it a while ago, when I was visiting Krakow. I visited Auschwitz during that trip and it meant the book made even more of an impression on me. The horrors are just unfathomable and the stories so sad. I'm glad I read the book, thank you for sharing.
