Journal Entry 1 by MaisyMay from Fareham, Hampshire United Kingdom on Tuesday, December 07, 2004
A birthday present from my Sister Angie. This is the best book I have read this year - and is now in my list of all time favourite books. From the first page I was gripped. The style of writing, whilst not to everyone’s taste, had me gripped and took me on a roller coaster of emotions from start to finish. An intriguing insight into a disturbing and baffling psychiatric condition, which made me question the sanity of both central characters. Truly gripping stuff - highly recommended. This is the first work by Ian McEwan that I have read - I will now be looking out for more. Amazing. So, this book is now going to be my first ring. If you'd like to join - PM me. An extraordinary book which kept me engrossed from beginning to end. A story of how pathological love can destroy lives, Ian McEwan's interweaving and careful examination of relationships creates suspense which is maintained until the last chapter. Thank you MaisyMay, and onto Glittah.

Journal Entry 8 by quico from Coimbra (cidade), Coimbra Portugal on Wednesday, July 13, 2005
We all know from literature and from life that love is very close to insanity. We say we want to be loved, always, but it's not true. I think this book is about one man who didn't want to be loved. True love has many shapes and some of them can be really disturbing. The first chapter is brilliant and the language is beautiful.I also liked the absense of sentimentality. But... After a promising start, the rest of the book was disapointing: the plot is boring, the caraters uninteresting and there were to many ironic "scientific" explanations. I expected more.

Hey guys, sorry for not posting before. I've received the book last week, and I haven't registered until now because these last weeks have been quite busy. that was me above, Glittah, by the way. Just read the previous posts, and noticed the change in the ring order ( I don't think I've received any pm from Mastulela... anyway, my inbox might have been full at the time - hotmail sucks! :) ) So, the book will be going back to owner, MasyMay, as soon as I finish it. Thanks a lot caitdwyer and MasyMay!
