Journal Entry 1 by nancyluvsbooks from Olive Branch, Mississippi USA on Thursday, December 02, 2004
Product Description (from Amazon.com): Meet Ella Turner and Isabelle du Moulin - two women born centuries apart, yet bound by a fateful family legacy. When Ella and her husband move to a small town in France, Ella hopes to brush up on her French, qualify to practice as a midwife, and start a family of her own. Village life turns out to be less idyllic than she expected, however, and a peculiar dream of the color blue propels her on a quest to uncover her family's French ancestry. As the novel unfolds - alternating between Ella's story and that of Isabelle du Moulin four hundred years earlier - a common thread emerges that unexpectedly links the two women. Part detective story, part historical fiction, The Virgin Blue is a novel of passion and intrigue that compels readers to the very last page.

Journal Entry 3 by jamesmum from Richmond, British Columbia Canada on Saturday, January 15, 2005
Thank you! Sorry I forgot to journal this when it arrived - I was out of town for most of the month. I really enjoyed reading this story - historical fiction is always a treat. I learned a bit about French history and politics that I didn't know before, and found the 1500s characters quite interesting. The modern-day plot was,to me, a bit boring, but I understand that it was needed to thread the rest of the story together. I'll be sure to plass this on to another BXer who has this on his/her wish list. Thanks again! 1/22/05: I'm sending this to a friend who is looking for some good reading material. Hope you like it - but if you don't, don't feel bad, just pass it along to someone else!

Thanks to jamesmum, first and foremost. I enjoyed this book. I was very taken by the common links between women born 400 years apart. I thought the writing regarding Isabella (1500s)was wonderfully descriptive...

Journal Entry 9 by BelleMorte from Tuscaloosa, Alabama USA on Thursday, March 10, 2005
absolutly wonderful as always. I have now read all of her novels except for "The Lady and the Unicorn", and she is my favorite author ever. Her stories are always grounded in the real world but with a twist. This one was a little different though. I loved it but the whole dream storyline had me a little thrown off. Still it was a beautiful story and I hope that she continues to write for years to come. +kil+

I really enjoyed this book. I love the way that it switches between the two stories and how they come together. Warning Spoiler: I laughed out loud at the part where the little girl finds the bones in the bag! I'll be sending the book along to Dusties later today.

Brought this book along with me on my trip to Thailand. I have to say I didn't like it nearly as much as The Girl with the Pearl Earring, but it was the perfect book to read while lounging around the pool at Koh Samui. I noticed there was another avid reader off in a far corner who had her head in a book the entire time she was at the pool. She seemed rather shy, so I merely left this book in a release bag on her sun bed. Hope she takes it along with her on her travels.
