Oops forgot I hadn't made a journal entry for this. Really enjoyed this book. I decided to buy it after reading Memoirs of a Geisha and it didn't disappoint. If you enjoyed Memoirs you will love this too.

This was a very interesting read. I doesn't have a compelling plot but gives a lot of information, in story form, about the Japanese geisha world.

I had loaned this to my mother who returned it to me during a family get together for Thanksgiving. I hadn't planned to read it yet, but my other book wasn't grabbing me. This was certainly interesting and much toned down from Memoirs of a Geisha. I can see why she felt the need to show her view. My mother and I recently went to an exhibit at our museum of kimonos. They are stunning.

Finally got around to reading this after it had sat on my shelf for a few years. I enjoyed this. It was a pleasant contrast to the sensationalism of Memoirs of a Geisha, probably because it's truth rather than fiction. I would like to know how someone can survive for so long on only a few hours of sleep each night though!

I really enjoyed this. I found it to be so much better than Memoirs of a Geisha, and I did love that book too. I don't read a great deal of non-fiction but I felt I wanted to know the truth behind the fiction. This is just one person's truth, but I think it showed how much Memoirs was embellished for the sake of making a good story. I think the truth is probably more interesting.
