Product Description by Amazon:
Precious Ramotswe is the eminently sensible and cunning proprietor
of the only ladies’ detective agency in Botswana. In Tears of the
Giraffe she tracks a wayward wife, uncovers an unscrupulous maid,
and searches for an American man who disappeared into the plains
many years ago. In the midst of resolving uncertainties, pondering
her impending marriage to a good, kind man, Mr. J. L. B. Matekoni,
and the promotion of her talented secretary (a graduate of the
Botswana Secretarial College, with a mark of 97 per cent), she also
finds her family suddenly and unexpectedly increased by two.

I liked this as much as the first one.
The peaceful and quiet countryside living
is real chicken soup for the soul - as well
as a snowy landscape which can be admired
here at the moment. I remember eating
chicken soup in the past when having a hang over.
(It happened sometimes when I was young.
Now I am much too wise to get any hang overs
but I like chicken soup in spite of that.)

A colleague wanted to read this in English and I gave the book to her before Easter. She likes this series, too (Who wouldn't?).
This book counts for Botswana in my A Book From Every Country Challenge.

I got this from Annelis at Book and Rose Day happening at the Esplanade Park today. Thank you, Annelis! The book will return to her after I've finished with it.
These stories of Mma Ramotswe are so comforting. I believe (I want to believe) everyone wishes people to be as kind and fair as she and Mr J.L.b. Matekoni. In these stories justice prevails in the end. Justice just is gentle to those who have wronged also. I liked this one even better than the first book of the series. Thanks a lot for lending this book to me, Annellis.
The book came back home. Now my 15-year old daughter will read it. She already got through the first Mma Ramotswe. I hope she will read all the books in this series. It is good practice for her as she will go to high school or "lukio" in the autumn.
arrived this week. thanks so much! :D
RABCK for morsecode.
Arrived safe and sound in Buffalo, NY today.
Thanks so much, AsianWaterFall!

I brought this book with me to read when I went to Washington, DC last week for a conference. I can't believe that I haven't had a chance to journal it until now.
Anyway, I think the No.1 Ladies Detective Agency books are just wonderful. Right now I'm a little sad because I just found out that the next 3 books in the series (which were coming to me from Giz-angel in the UK) were lost in the mail.
This book was as good as the first one. I found the title of this one especially intriguing and was pleased --at the end of the book-- when we learned where it came from.
For those of you who haven't seen it, there's a nice little interview on McCall Smith's website that focuses on this series.

I hope she enjoys it as much as I did.

I liked this book. The characters are more intresting than ever. It's nice to know that not everyone and everything is so harsh in the world.
Can't wait to read the next book :)
