I have started registering my personal collection, because I want to lend them to people I like.
The Commissario Brunetti-series are one of my favourite detective-series. What I like about them is the atmosphere of Venice; the characters of Brunetti and his wife, who are both leftish since their youth, but who see that their ideals and thoughts about life and society will never be real; the realistic description of the Venetian bureaucracy and corrupt system. Some people don't like the fact that the villain almost always walks free, but for me it makes it very plausible.
This book is about murders on an island close to Venice. The community is very close and doesn't want the venetian police to interfere in their affairs. A lot of boating, personal conflict and uneasy talks is the result. You have to know the series to understand this story to the full.

Still in the process of getting to know Donna Leon. Apparently this one wasn't the first I should have read.
Ah well. Still worked for me.
