My partner and I read this when we were camping in Arapiles in October. We only had two books to share over three weeks, and had to ration ourselves to a few pages every day. Dave's much better at that kind of thing than I am. I read mine too quickly then had to lie around, bored and sighing a lot, hiding in the tent when the weather was grim. I took to raiding the garbage bins around the national park, to dig up weekend newspapers that the weekend warriors might have tossed. Snow Falling on Cedars was better. This was kind of sentimental. I think sentimental writing is weak, but I don't know if I'm being a bitch. Because I ran out of reading material. We'd borrowed the book from a friends, and had this one at home, so I thought I'd set it free and see what the consensus was...

I'm a chef in a restaurant in town. While on shift last night, I was filling up at the coffee station when I noticed said book sitting on an empty table. Thinking it's owner was in the washroom, I left it, until my waitress brought it over at the end of the night.
