It looks like my boyfriend is getting in on the whole release of books. He just finsihed this one (said it wasn't so great) and decided to let me release it into the wild.
"In the twenty-third century pioneers have escaped the crowded Earth for life in self-sustaining orbital colonies. One of the colonies, Rotor, has broken away from the solar system to create its own renegade utopia around an unknown red star two light-years from Earth: a star named Nemesis.
Now a fiften-year-old Rotorian girl has learned of the dire threat that Nemesis poses to Earth's people - but she is prevented from warning them. And soon it will be up to her alone to save both Earth and Rotor as - drawn inexorably by Nemesis, the death star - they hurtle toward certain disaster."

Well it wasn't travelling as fast as the starships in this book but I finally got to read it this week. An excellent sci fi piece with lots of mystery and science thrown in. Sort of knew that the alien life forms and Marlene were connected. All ends nicely tied, perhaps a little too easily.
