This is a wonderful story of another culture. As an American, it was a glimpse into the life of contemporary Afghanistan through the eyes of one who is flawed and knows he is flawed. (Aren't we all?) Well worth the read. Enjoy!!

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

RELEASE NOTES:

Left on the Sugar/Cream and Napkin stand; the whole family watched and waited as people picked it up and put it back. It finally left with a nice lady, who appeared to have started to read it. (grin).

Here is the story from the Star-News today!

One City, One Story books going wild

PASADENA -- If you are in the right Starbucks, or visible on the Web camera at the Central Library's Central Grounds coffee shop or just happen across the right stretch of sidewalk you could find a free copy of "The Kite Runner' this weekend, the One City, One Story book being read in Pasadena all during the month of March.

Anonymous "book crossers' members of an online book- trading community will leave free copies of the book around the city beginning today. Each book has a book-crossing ID number inside it, and finders can log on to www.bookcrossing.com , see where the book has been and post their own comments about it.

Finders may then leave their own "release note' describing where they, in turn, have released the book into the "wild' for another reader to find and journal.

A Pasadena computer user screen-named Ryuku has coordinated book-crossers from around the country who have or will mail copies of the book to Pasadena for wild release all on the same day.

The free books can be identified in several ways: Some are sealed in a plastic bag which proclaims in large letters "FREE BOOK.' Others will contain book crossing book marks, or have an "I'm not lost Post-It note on the cover and will be sitting out on tables, benches or counters.

A second mass release is set for March 19.

One City, One Story participants also are reminded that at 11 a.m. today there will be a kite-flying contest in the Arroyo Seco just south of the Rose Bowl.

A teacher gave me this book to read. I read it in two days! I couldn't put the book down. I plan to give the book to my boyfriend or his sister-in-law.
