I think it depends what your expectations are going into this book. I'd heard only great things about it so I was set up for disappointment. The book did live up to my expectations of an overweight woman finding love of herself and, less importantly but still gratifyingly, the love of an earnest and thoughtful man. But while the main character was indeed plucky and sometimes humorous, I found her to not be as humorous as the author gave her credit for, I couldn't understand why her friends exhibited such loyalty (she didn't seem to be giving back), and I didn't like the emphasis on Hollywood. I wanted an ordinary person I could relate to!!! Still, so many people have loved this book, some bookcrossing member out there is sure to consider this a lucky find.
