"It begins with a curse, a song and a hanging, and builds into a magnificent adventure no reader will ever forget. The Pillars of the Earth is, without doubt, a masterpiece - at once a tale for all time and an epic that shines with the fierce spirit of a bygone age.
The worldwide best-selling epic of family drama, violent conflict and vaulting ambition set around the building of a great cathedral."

It's with me. I have tho's copy of this book but it is hardcover and it was almost breaking my wrists.
I will journal them both after I read it...

Set in medieval Britain, this story, which covers two generations, tells of a group of men and women whose destinies are fatefully linked with the building of a cathedral

BC generosity never stops amazing me, thank you very much PA.
I'll get to it as soon as I can and I'm sure I'm going to enjoy it.
All this and I didn't even had to change the picture in my BShelf (muahahahaha)!

What a great book!
A well crafted plot, a very good portrait of life, and its difficulties, in the Medieval Age, and the everlasting struggle between Church and State, in which both of them have villains and heroes.
It’s a big book but worth every page. The story develops slowly but with a steady pace, which makes it very enjoyable, and in the end every loose end is tied up, so it really is a very satisfying read.
Most of the characters sound very true to the greedy spirit of the time, especially William of Hamleigh, Waleran Bigod, King Stephen and his dreadful brother. The women, Ellen and Aliena, are great characters but a little too emancipated for the time they live in, a little wishful thinking by the author? Perhaps, but it’s worth the stretch of the imagination.
Thank you very much for sharing PA and I’ll be mailing it back to you sometime this week.
