Sexy

This is the Advance Reading Copy I got from participating at Harper Teen's First Look program.
This was a pretty weird book. Darren Flynn is a quiet, brooding, sexy swimmer type who is faced with a conflict when his teacher is accused of being a child molester. It has a very dissatisfying ending that seems to come out of left field...plus it leaves so much hanging! Whatever happened to Darren?! On page 225, there's a reference of teachers shaking their heads over "what was happening to Darren Flynn." What DID happen? Did he ever go to college? Did he tell the truth about Mr. Tracy ever? Did he marry Molly Rawlings? Did he ever play guitar? So many unanswered questions: it's frustrating.
The prose and style was neat. I never got caught up in sentence structure; it just fluttered from though to thought. I also have some quotable quotes:
"It was all invented, wasn't it? people saw in others what they wanted to see, not what was there." - p. 185
"Philosophy is for losers; it you're a winner, you don't have time for bullshitting." - p. 228
"How much of life needs to be written?" - p. 16
"Sex was what his mind drifted to most. And food. Or food, then sex." - p. 16

Mailed to andersor because it was on her Wish List. I hope she enjoys it! :)
Thanks for the RABCK, it arrived safely yesterday. I can't wait to read it :)
1/4/06 - I agree with GuinevereII, the ending really left me hanging! It was a very quick read, and on the whole, forgettable.
