Journal Entry 1 by Winterson from Peacehaven, East Sussex United Kingdom on Saturday, November 06, 2004
Ian McEwan's novel, first published in 1997. A fatal ballooning accident in the Chilterns disrupts the organised life of Joe Rose, leading to an encounter which tests his rationalism to the limits. The author was shortlisted for the Booker Prize in 1981 and 1992 and is a previous winner of the Whitbread Novel of the Year award. I just can't get on with Ian McEwan. I try, but it just doesn't work for me. So this one's going out as my first bookray to find someone to appreciate it. Journal Entry 3 by Cardamaz from Northampton, Northamptonshire United Kingdom on Saturday, November 27, 2004
The book was okay but nothing special. I never got to sympathise with the main character so probably wasn't as gripped with the story as I should have been. An interesting read. Will be posted to PCSAF in the next few days.

I have read it almost as soon as I got it!!! It's very well written and intriguing enough to keep us close to book at all times. The story leads us in one way, but the end surprises us.. I enjoyed it very much!! It will travel to the USA.

Journal Entry 7 by silverstarry from Berkeley, California USA on Thursday, January 06, 2005
This book had an interesting premise, but the plot became predictable; however, the book was short enough that it wasn't a chore to finish reading it. What I found more interesting than the plot itself were the author's observations on love and human nature. Thanks to Winterson for sharing the book with us!

Journal Entry 10 by -Psyche- on Monday, September 05, 2005
Just received a few days ago. I'm actually almost done, so I will be able to send this back out quickly. A quote from the back: "A page-turner, with a plot so engrossing that it seems reckless to pick the book up in the evening if you plan to get any sleep that night..."

Journal Entry 11 by -Psyche- on Monday, September 05, 2005
Read this one in 24 hours--devoured, to be exact. It has been a while since I have read something well written, though there were points in the plot that I thought could use more toning. I think this is one I might want to pick up my own copy of so I can re-read it down the road. It seems like something that might morph the more readings it gets. I wanted to get this one done before I got the chance to see the movie, though I should give it some serious time in order to not ruin the book. If you enjoyed this one, I would check out _The Age of Grief_ by Jane Smiley. Another interesting look at psychology and marriage. Will send along to laurarn at some point this week... tomorrow marks my very first day ever as a teacher, so I will probably be too busy to stop at the post office, which closes altogether too early. By Saturday, I promise!

recieved as part of a ray. The book is looking, well-uummm-how do I say this, utilized frequently. (It is actually in two parts as the binding glue is not longer holding it together) I am going to see if I can buy some glue that will fix it.

I liked this book, it is an interesting take on what an (uninvited) 3rd person can have on a relationship. And the whole idea of a man, being stalked by another man is interesting. I am sending it to tnelson99 as next on the ray. Mailing tomorrow.
