From the back cover:

"What makes an otherwise sane person travel to New Zealand to leave a book under a glacier? Join underground librarian 'Skyring' as he retraces his steps of two decades earlier, this time leaving a trail of free books behind him from Rotorua to Milford Sound."

Enjoyable, but the font could have been set a mite larger. Loved all of the photos.

Good job, mate!

Well I'm feeling quite lucky to have received this book, for two reasons. The first being that this is authored by the infamous 'Skyring', a witty and creative Bookcrosser (whom I've always thought I will like to sit and have a cup of tea with). The second being that this book was almost a casuality of the U.S. Postal Service--only the wiseness of the mighty 'scavok' brought it to my doorstep. Yesterday's mail brought a brown envelope from the U.S.P.S. with the following on a sticker:

"Dear Postal Customer, We wish to apologize for your damaged mail. It was rewrapped at the Kansas City Bulk Mail Center. We handle about 350,000 pieces of mail daily, and though our damage rate is low, we understand your feelings." There was more but you get the gist.

As you may imagine my stomach turned a bit. I wasn't really expecting any books but most of my bulky mail *is* books from kind Bookcrossers. I was very worried what shape the book inside might be in. When I opened the envelope I released a sigh of relief. The book was in almost perfect condition! The envelope it had been in, however, looked like it had been through a war. (I've added a picture of the envelope to this entry but it just doesn't convey the hardship this envelope went through.)

I'd say only the fact that scavok had stuck a piece of paper in the book with both of our addresses on it got this book to me. Bravo scavok! I think from now on I'll make sure to do the same.

I'm looking forward to reading this book that obviously had quite an adventure on the trip from Michigan to Missouri!

I'm a very bad BCer....this slim volume slipped into a crevasse in Mount Toberead. I have just started it but it might be slow going as the type makes me squint. (I only got through 29 pages last night.)
