Somehow I didn't journal this when I thought I had. Anyhow, I thought the book was completely different from the movie. I found it a bit hard to follow when the book switched the character's throughout the story. It's now ready to be passed on to the next in line! =)
Continuing it's journey on to iguana-girl today. Enjoy! =)
This book arrived yesterday. I'm reading another bookring book right now, so I'll start this one very soon. Thanks for sharing, irishajo!
Arrived today! Will journal when finished. :o)
This is one time that I'm glad I saw the movie first. The movie and the book are quite different. They're both good though. The movie is more like milk chocolate -- sweeter, creamier, smoother, more popular. The book is like dark chocolate. Sweet, but also bitter. Rich in texture, multi-layered. Bittersweet aftertaste.
I'm mailing this on tomorrow.

Sorry, I have had this book for about a week now but have been unable to log it due to pc problems. Next on my TBR list.
Wow, sorry I took so long with this book.
Like previous readers I found the book so different from the film but enjoyed it just as much. Once I got used to the narrator changing I really got quite into it. Have to say if I had read the book first I probably wouldn't have bothered with the film - apart from the added attraction of Mr Depp that is! :)
I will PM the next in line and get his book posted in the next few days.

the book has arrived and I am already quite curious...
book is still here safe with me. will read it in my upcoming holidays... sorry for the delay.
Oh wow, what a great book for a winter evening with a hot chocolade...
Makes you believe that someday the world could be all good again...
(And the book wasn't even kitschy, just plain feel-good...)

Thanks, 'Chocolat' arrived during the week I was on business trip. Now I'm back and stuck with five book rings! Trying to start reading as soon as possible.
Edit Feb 5, 06
I enjoyed reading this very much. I realised soon that the tone of this book was darker than that of the movie, like someone said earlier about the different chocolates. The story was beautifully written and the villagers of Lansquenet were described so lively. I liked the film too though it was in English. (I prefer films where Juliette Binoche speaks French.)

I've mailed Chocolat to Lpree. Will take approximately three weeks.
This arrived in today's mail. I'm glad to see I'm last on the list, as I have a few bookrings ahead of it. I haven't seen this movie yet, but I'm sure I will eventually as we're big fans of J. Depp. Anyway, I'm glad to have the chance to read the book first.
Wow, what a great story! I loved this! It immediately drew me in and I couldn't put it down. I am looking forward to checking out the movie now, especially having read some of the comments. I too was a bit confused about the change in narrator, but once I made sense of that, it was smooth reading.
Looks like I'm last on the list for this one... I'll look for some more readers for this and get it moving again soon. Thanks very much for sharing it!
