The main character in this book is a spunky twenty-year-old named Rune. She is a squatter with a job in a video store when one of the customers gets murdered. Rune becomes entangled in the investigation, which is believed to be a professional hit. Rune becomes convinced that the answer to the mystery lies in a tape always rented to the customer: Manhattan Is My Beat. As she tries to solve the murder she puts herself in more and more danger. This was a pretty good book. Not awarding winning, but good.
