Synopsis
This extraordinary, magical novel is the story of Clare and Henry who have known each other since Clare was six and Henry was thirty-six, and were married when Clare was twenty-two and Henry thirty. Impossible but true, because Henry is one of the first people diagnosed with Chrono-Displacement Disorder: periodically his genetic clock resets and he finds himself pulled suddenly into his past or future. His disappearances are spontaneous and his experiences are alternately harrowing and amusing. The Time Traveler's Wife depicts the effects of time travel on Henry and Clare's passionate love for each other with grace and humour. Their struggle to lead normal lives in the face of a force they can neither prevent nor control is intensely moving and entirely unforgettable.

What a fascinating and clever book this is. I read most of it one evening whilst resting from a hectic day and couldn't wait to finish it the next morning. I loved it.

Just back from a lovely Easter holiday weekend away. Feeling a bit glum about going back to work, but cheered up instantly by the big fat parcel containing this book. Thanks for setting up this ray Chinasourcer!

I have to agree with Chinasourcer on this one. What a clever and inventive book. Nice to read something with a new twist on an idea. It did take me a couple of chapters to get my head around the concept, but after that I was hooked. Would have read it in one sitting if "having a book to finish" was an acceptable reason for not going to work! On it's way to angellica once I get an address.

Oh yes, I agree with all the other journallers - what a great book.
It reminded me of my favourite film - "Twelve Monkeys" - and I cried at the end of both (and in the middle as well!)

I replaced most of the hearts that fell out and will send off to elestr tomorrow.

What a lovely book! The story really takes you along and you quickly become very involved with the characters. One of the best books I've read this year. Will pass on to jaynereader in Italy as soon as I get their address.

I liked this book very much but after all the hype it has received I was a tad disappointed in a few places. Perhaps I should have read it more quickly. I wasn't engrossed in it but it is a wonderful story all the same. Thanks chinasourcer for organising this.
Due to be surface mailed to Spikesmom in the next few days.

Whee! I'd forgotten this was coming! How nice to be on the end of the ring -- thanks for that, China. This is one I want to sit and enjoy...

I really balked at reading this -- not only do I not like most best-sellers, I'd heard that the beginning was hard to get into. And it was. But some good book friends told me the end would be worth it, so I kept going.

I didn't love the end. I don't think this ended in the right spot.

What I loved was the rhythm of the prose and the characters. I loved the relationship between Clare and Henry. For me, that makes up for the plot that seems to meander and not really be about much.

Author Niffenegger recently sold her second book (for a huge chunk of change). I'm curious to see what it's about and how it compares.

Wooo!!! What a wonderful RABCK surprise!!! You made my day WOM! And I see some hearts and bookmark goodies inside. :) I've heard so many good things about this book & I am really looking forward to reading it. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!

Oh gosh. I almost dislike writing JE's for books that I loved this much. All I want to do is gush and exclaim that I LOVE the book! It now firmly holds a place on my list of all-time favorites.

I'd been setting this aside due to the hype, but I now see the error of my ways. There were so many little things in this book that made me grin. I finished it, sobbing, at 3:30 AM Saturday night. I'd read it again, which isn't something that I say often.

Thank you for sharing this book with me.
