A family divided
Placed in Early Spring Cleaning Bookbox started by Apolonia.
Took this out of the bookbox.
I enjoyed this book very much. The emphasis on family and on reconciliation are age old themes. While reading, one feels so well the anger and awkwardness of estrangement. Will steps be made towards reconciliation and what will it take for this to happen? It's a quick read.

I pulled this out of the 10 Books I Highly Recommend Bookbox. I've never read any by Belva Plain. That's what I love about bookboxes - being introduced to new writers I might otherwise never read. Thanks!
I like pulling new books from bookboxes in the hope of discovering a new author. But what I discovered is that I don't like Belva Plain. Her writing is as shallow as her characters. I felt like all she did was give us a snapshot of what the characters were doing and what they thought, and those characters were so trite that I just didn't care for any of them. I doubt I'll read any more of her work, but I was glad to have had the opportunity to read an author I might otherwise have never read.
