I have just bought a second copy of this book as my first copy (see journal entries at: The Time Traveler's Wife ) is out on a ring and I want to send this out to my postal book group. It is still the best book I have read all year, clever, funny and poigniant. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did!

A beautiful and poigniant story, I enjoyed it immensely. I wondered at the beginning if the chronology was going to be difficult to follow but it was actually very easy to understand where you were and what you were "seeing". However, I did find it strange that Clare was born on my 5th birthday ;-)

Thank you for sending this, I will pass it on to Anfield

Excellent book, she planned the plot meticulously and the execution of it was superb. I liked Henry for his flaws, and also the way he dealt with his condition. Arriving naked in an unspecified place and time must make for a very resourceful person! The ending didn't provide any great denouement, instead the book was enjoyable form start to finish. Will post to Avoca now.

I have read this just recently and thought it was a cracking read: clever and thought-provoking, but warm and funny too. I found it fascinating how the characters changed over time and how this affected their relationships. It made me reflect on my own relationships which I *think* is a good thing . . . Will send on to Camis in plenty of time.

A lovely book, beautifully written. The continual time changes could have made it too complicated, but the way the story was told made it very obvious what time the characters were in.

A very enjoyable read - thank you.

Will post on to Happygran.

Just received this, thank you. It's very thick and heavy - hope I have time to finish it.

This was fascinating. It's scientifically impossible but it's the love story that counts and that is terrific. I feel awfully sorry for Clare at the end - I hope she didn't really waste the rest of her life waiting for him. The jumping backwards and forwards wasn't too difficult and very teasing.

Time travel always intrigues me -it's historian in me I guess! this one was no less intriguing than any other! A others have mentioned the chronology was pretty easy to follow (providing you read the chapter headings carefully!) and being me, i often had to stop & think though who knew what at which time, and what they had experienced or not...!
It's a great book and a wonderful read -and the story of the relationship is strong -and not overshadowed by the time travelling element.

When I first heard about this book I thought it was going to be based on "The Illywhacker" and wasn't sure that I wanted to read it (quite apart from the fact that I really don't read science fiction!)

However, as is obvious from the very start of the book, it is neither of these things. It is a very beautiful, meticulously planned and enchanting story. The characters are fantastic and develop throughout the book.

I loved it!

Glad you all enjoyed this. Am going to send this copy on to the person waiting for it in the bookring for my other copy as that one seems to have stalled.

I gave a third copy to a friend to read and he couldn't get on with it because, he said, it was obvious that the author had done a creative writing course and the book was full of flowery prose. Can't say I noticed!
