To be read
Enjoyed this book, again it wasn't a book that I would usually read as I haven't liked historical novels in the past but because of all the positive feedback it has received I thought I would give it a go. Glad I did! Thanks fellow BXer's, another welcome deviation from my usual taste!
This is now going to be an international bookring, if I get enough members.

I really enjoyed this book. Once it got started i found it hard to put down! I loved the main character, Mattie, and the difficulties she faces as she grows up - torn between her responsibilities to her family and her desire to write and go to college. Set at the turn of the century, mattie's story is told against the back drop of another story - a young woman is found drowned in a lake. Mattie's life inter-twines with this young woman's as she reads the letters left behind.
Thanks for sharing - passing on to csvariation now.

Book is home!
Absolutely couldn't put it down. Once I got into the first few pages, that was it. I was hooked. I spent a whole day reading it on a weekend and just didn't want to do anything else. It was particularly poignant knowing that it was based on a true story and I was pleased to read the Author's note at the end relating the final outcome of the actual case it was based on. Highly recommended.
