Yayyy! Many thanks, cartref! :D This is a surprise :)
A book about changing one's mindset to attract better opportunities in whatever one wishes from life.
I did not find the style of the book appealing; it was rather too simplified, perhaps to convey the message better. I have therefore rated it '4'.

Thankyou Judio for sending this to me. I am looking forward to reading it!
I finally got around to reading this book. It is about changing the way we think about change. I wrote a rather lengthy essay in uni a few years back about changing organisational culture, and this would have been an interesting additional reference for that essay. Having said that, I at first thought that this book was over-simplified. After thinking about it for a while, I think now that maybe the simplification of the story is what makes it attractive to so many people.
There are people who claim this story has changed their lives. It didn't have that effect on me because I view the story as basic common sense. Then again, I also know that there are alot of people who are resistant to change, in both their personal and professional lives.
This is a very quick read, perhaps 40 minutes to one hour max!

received in the mail today, along with another bookring from bookfairy. it is very short so won't take long to read, once i start it.
i wouldn't say it was life-changing. i am most like sniff, and enjoy change. there are a few members of my family who don't cope so well with change tho so i gave it to them to read too.
a very simple tale to encourage you to look at yourself at how you cope with change.

Received in the mail today from AmberC. Thanks Amber and also thanks to bookfairy65 and other past custodians of this book for sharing it with others! :-) I have a few other books before this one so will get to it as soon as possible.
Finally finished! Sorry it languished on my Mt TBR for so long! It got overlooked due to the dominating nature of some of the other books on the pile until I rescued it and carried it with me in my handbag so I could savour small snippets of the story as I waiting in doctor and physio rooms! :-)
It's an interesting read, not gripping but worth reading just to be challenged afresh about one's own ability to handle the changes that occur in life. I liked the illustrations of the 'cheesy quotes' which sum up the essence of the message. It's a very simplified story but one which I can see a motivational speaker giving at a seminar to challenge his audience to acccept changes in their lives rather than stubbornly stick their heads in the sand when something comes alongs that threatens to rock their boat!
I'm going to offer this on the aussie 'yahoo list' and also on the 'bookrings forum' as an aussie first, then international ray so that it can keep travelling. :-)

Received safely. Had a quick look, I think I'm a Scurry, I tend to react well to change. I'll read the book asap and journal again.
LOL guess who forgot to make sure they where signed in before journaling? Guess I was in too much of a scurry!
Yep, I'm a scurry. It's an interesting little book, and might help someone who has trouble with change.
I'll get it posted to Kzel asap.

Picked up from the post office on Saturday (22/04/06)
Sorry for holding the ring up - I actually finished the book about two weeks ago, but just haven't had the time to journal it or send it on.
An interesting little book, though most of it seemed like common sense to me.

Sending on to next recipient today - apologies again for holding onto this for awhile.
Arrived safely today, along with 4 other bookrings. I'm not an addict, honest, seems to be a bit like falling leaves...one goes, they all go! This one has pictures and large print so should be a single evening affair. Thanks for sharing. I'll get to it asap
Cute story. On the other hand it makes very good points. And is SO true, especially the part about taking cheese for granted then thinking it's "their" cheese and unfair when it disappears. I'm trying to imagine being sent on a course by a big company to hear this. I'd expect a fair bit of scoffing, not just because of Hem's, more because of the Dick and Jane approach.
I think what i've taken away from this most is how important it is for us not to mistakenly let our kids grow up to always expect/believe that cheese will be there. Thanks for sharing! I've sent a note to crimson-tide. This should get into the post in a day or two.

It's funny how these books always seem to arrive en masse. This one landed safely today along with 2 other bookrings - at least it was only 2 and not 4! Will put it top of the pile as it will be a 'quickie'. Thanks all.
Journal Entry 24 by crimson-tide from Balingup, Western Australia Australia on Thursday, July 27, 2006
It did start out on top of the pile, but then something else landed on top of it LOL! Yes, it is simple, but simple things often work the best, and it brings out the necessary points very clearly. I enjoyed the story but thought that the 'discussion' bit at the end was not really necessary and was a bit forced.
I identify myself as a "Haw" - don't really like change all that much, but adapt in time, especially after I can identify some advantage - then I'm out scurrying around with the best of them :-)
"What would you do if you weren't afraid?"
Good question to keep in mind.
Off to hunnyb today.

Received today. Thanks all :) Will get into it right away.
An interesting little parable. I think it can apply to all parts of one's life, which is probably one of the reasons for its popularity. A good introduction to self-help books, in that it's not overly technical or "fluffy" (e.g. "you are worthy of love! You are worthy of happiness!" *cringe*)
Sent off to AnglersRest. Thanks for sharing :)

Arrived today with some beautiful Aussie sunshine! This is ring 6!, but as this is a slim book, I should be able to get it moving soonish.
I know I said yesterday I would get to is soonish as it was slim, but I managed to read this one this morning as I had finished my previous ring book. This was interesting for me. I work for a company that has grown in size in the last 10 years, mainly by buying independent pharmacies or small chains. In every branch there is a sniff, scurry,Hem & Haw. I very often have a conversation with one branch who are forever looking back to the days pre multiple! I think that I'm a bit of sniff & scurry! Just about to PM the next reader and should get this moving as soon as I have an address.
I now have Xanthe-pup's address, so this is off in the post.
Received yesterday - on holiday this week so should read it pretty quickly.
Read this last night - it only took an hour or so. It raises some good points about accepting change, and although it won't change my life it has given me food for thought at a time when the company I work for is having a reshuffle.
I did like the 'Discussion' part at the end - in particular the point that no one will admit to being scared of change, but everyone believes other people are. This is probably one of the ways in which the book will not be as effective as a face-to-face seminar would - I bet 90% of people identify themsevles with one of the mice instead of takng the time to properly examine their behaviour in times of change.
Overall an interesting read - but I am glad I didn't buy it!
Have PM'd BrooklinBrat for an address.

Book arrived safe and sound. It looks like a quick read, so I'll PM Summerbreeze for an address now, and get it out as soon as I'm done.
I just received this book sometime last week (been way to busy to even check my email eep, gulp sorry) Anyway, I will PM the next person in line to get their address right away...I should be able to finish it today. It is a crazy week, I also received three other books this week EEEPPP!!!
With the agreement of rarsberry in NZ, who was the last person on this bookring, I am going to re-advertise this book on the fourms to see if any other 'Northern Hemisphere' people want to read it before it heads back 'down under'. It seems silly to let it come to New Zealand and back to Australia and then have it fly back up to the USA or Europe again if someone there wants to read it.
Thanks rarsberry for being willing to be 'bumped' down the list!! :-)
UPDATED list of participants will appear in this journal entry. Thankyou to all past participants of 'my bookring' for moving this book along in such a timely manner and thanks to cartref, Judio, bookfairy65 and amberC for sharing the book with us all in the first place! :-) This is a well travelled book already but let's keep it moving and see how many more frequent flyer points it can accumulate!!! :-)
Normal rules for "rings and rays" apply: Please do a journal entry upon receipt AND PM next person for their address. Read it and pass it on as soon as possible, no 'guilts' if you keep it for a month but do keep it moving please! :-) As it’s a small book and easy to read please endeavour to read it and get it moving to the next person on the list within 2 weeks to a month. I *KNOW* ‘real life’ gets in the way sometimes so PLEASE keep in touch with me if you can’t get this book read & moving after a month, Ta! :-) It really is such an easy book to read that I am requesting that people PLEASE PM the next person in the list for their address as soon as YOU get the book so no time is wasted waiting for them to reply to PM’s etc. Thanks.
Apart from that…enjoy the book!
UPDATED Ring members are: (shipping order may change! CHECK here before you post!)

Hmm. My thoughts about this book are mixed. On the one hand, change is a very important topic and exploring it is good for me. I especially liked the idea that part of being able to change is being able to laugh at oneself.
"He realized the fastest way to change is to laugh at your folly -- then you can let go and quickly move on."
On the other hand, I found the writing style and especially the extended cheese metaphor to be extremely annoying. but, hey, it's good to think about change.

Not sure what I am getting out of the book, but maybe I can remember the ideas if I need to use them in a situation later.
I should be able to post this book to the next person on Wednesday, after the holidays.

I have awhina's address and will post the book on Wednesday when I am back at work.

BLTN journal entry!!
Received this book in a book ring. Its taken a while to journal as I mislaid the book and got busy. Thought the book was OK, but I've read better. For a small book that is supposed to be SO great, its amazing how long it sits in the TBR piles of us all ;) Guess its not just me who finds life takes over and causes delays. Oh to be young and to live the simple life again. Will PM freelunch for an address and get this in the mail asap.

maybe I'm too jaded for this book - there was nothing new in it for me. I haven't rated it as I don't feel I am the target audience.

Good News Folk! This little book has returned back home safe and 'almost sound' LOL!!
Thankyou everyone for making this a successful bookring! The book needs a little TLC as it's innards are a bit wonky but I think after it's rested and recovered from it's international journey it might be able to grace the shelves of a couple more readers!
Once again...thanks for your part in making this bookring come home! :-)
